Hang Up on Fossil Fuels

Tell Comcast to Commit to 100% Renewable Energy

Comcast may entertain but all those streaming programs and entertainment comes at a cost – climate change.

The communications industry contributes at least 2.5% of our global greenhouse gas emissions and consumes an enormous amount of electricity from fossil fuels each year. And Comcast is a big part of that.

Comcast is not just a major cable and internet company but also owns NBC, Bravo, Peacock, and Universal (the makers of movie hits like Wicked), with 2024 revenues of over $123 billion.  To power all that, the company reported in 2024 that it used  6 million megawatts of energy (the equivalent of over ½ million cars on the road) with less than 10% of that coming from renewables.

After thousands of Green Americans reached out to Comcast they are now claiming they are at 27% clean energy. But, their definition of clean includes polluting and dangerous nuclear power, hydropower, and biomass

We need much more progress from Comcast and other communications companies to #cleanupwireless! With the harsh impacts of the climate crisis already being felt by communities worldwide, we need aggressive 100% renewable energy commitments. And no reliance on nukes or other false solutions! There’s no time to wait.

Join us in telling Comcast and other communication companies to switch to 100% renewable energy and to ensure Energy Justice.
