Pipelines hurt people. Tell DAPL banks to stop ignoring water protectors

Donald Trump signed an Executive Order to move the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines forward, and the Army Corps of Engineers have said they will no longer assess the environmental impacts of the pipeline. This is an outrageous assault on the Indigenous peoples who’ve resisted these pipelines that would harm their sacred lands, pollute vital water supplies, and fuel climate change.

If the US government won’t listen to the people and halt these dangerous pipelines once and for all, then we need to up the pressure on the financial institutions that are providing the funding.

Thanks to public pressure, eight banks that are financing the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) have agreed to meet with the elders of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to discuss their concerns. But six banks have not responded to the tribe’s request, and three, including Suntrust, have refused a meeting.

Many of the banks that are providing funding for the DAPL have said they are interested in stakeholder feedback. That means all of us.

Tell Suntrust and the other refusing and unresponsive banks to meet with the Standing Rock Sioux now and end funding the DAPL!
