It's time for Mars, maker of M&Ms and Skittles, to break up with GMOs. Mars seems committed to addressing the sustainability concerns associated with its water and land use. But without addressing its love affair with GMOs and pesticides, Mars is failing to meaningfully address the environmental impact of its products.
Tell Mars to deepen its commitment to sustainability this Valentine’s Day by offering non-GMO candies and pet foods!
Mars is the largest candy manufacturer in the US and the second largest in pet food sales. Popular Mars products that may contain GMOs include M&Ms, Snickers, Twix, Milky Way, and its pet food lines, including Iams, Eukanuba, and Whiskas.
Tell Mars that we and our furry friends deserve non-GMO foods.
In the US, 92% of our corn and 94% of our soybeans are genetically modified. As most candies and pet foods contain these ingredients, it’s highly likely we are eating GMOs and feeding them to our pets as well.
Tell Mars to deepen its commitment to sustainability by offering non-GMO human and pet food products.
Thanks to hearing from people like you, in 2016 Mars committed to removing artificial colors from its human food. This action demonstrates that Mars is willing to listen to its customers and is capable of sourcing better ingredients for its products.
Mars now has an opportunity to go beyond this initial commitment, and lead the pack among candy and pet food companies in shifting away from GMOs. But Mars needs to hear from you!
Ask Mars to offer non-GMO options for our pets too!
