Dear Green American,
We have exciting news on GMO labeling. Campbell’s has just announced that they will be labeling all of their products that contain GMOs.
You read that right: they will voluntarily label their foods that contain GMOs.
This is huge. Campbell’s is the first major packaged goods company to commit to transparency on GMOs, recognizing that consumers have a right to know what’s in their food.
Labels disclosing GMOs will roll out on their products over the next 12-18 months. The labels will disclose that GMOs are present, but not which ingredients contain GMOs. (For now that information is available on their website.)
Campbell’s is also taking the lead by calling for mandatory federal labeling of GMOs. And, their stance on GMO labeling follows their announcement this past summer of adding more organic soups and organic ingredients in Goldfish crackers.
Campbell’s recognizes that over 90 percent of Americans want GMOs labeled, and more and more Americans are shifting to non-GMO and organic foods.
GMO Insiders like you have been calling for foods that nourish people and the planet for years. Together, we’re showing that consumers want healthy and safe foods, and have a right to know what’s in the foods they feed their families.
And it’s working. From Cheerios to Hershey Bars, we’re turning the tide on how food is grown and made in the US. And, we’re getting better information about foods on the grocery store shelf, so we can choose foods that are truly healthy.
None of this change would be possible without your support. Thanks for all you do to create a healthier and greener world.
