Dear Green American ,
Take Action for Labeling
More than 60 countries around the world require truth-in-labeling for genetically modified foods. The US is not one of them.
Maine and Connecticut have each passed state-level labeling laws, but neither of these laws will go into effect until other New England states follow suit -- and both face the threat of challenges without a federal law to back them up.
The good news is that a federal GMO labeling law has already been introduced, in both the House and the Senate. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D, CA) and Rep. Peter DeFazio (D, OR) currently seek co-sponsors for their Genetically Engineered Food Right-to-Know Act, bipartisan legislation that would require the FDA to label all genetically modified foods.
